June 2023 maintenance has completed, and all services have resumed. We regrettably report that due to software issues, the cluster has suffered data loss on the distributed storage.
The follow changes have been implemented:
- Stata 18 is the default Stata version. You can access older versions through a terminal with environment modules
- PyTorch 2 is the default PyTorch version. All managed Python environments have been updated to the newest version.
- R 4.3 is the default R version. All managed R libraries have been updated.
Data Loss on Distributed Storage
We regrettably report that due to software issues, the cluster has suffered data loss on the distributed storage (
~/large-data) during maintenance. Files created after March 13, 2023 on
/data have a very high chance of being loss. We will release a separate report on the incident and what we plan to do to avoid similar incidents in the future.
Important: while we strive to prevent data loss on all of the cluster’s storage, as a good data security practice,
you should not put any file you cannot afford to lose in locations that have no backup.
We advise users to put anything that is generated and too important to lose in the
