After a two month trial period, we are glad to formally introduce SCRP-Assistant, an AI assistant on the SCRP Cluster that can work autonomously following your instruction.

Among its many capabilities, the Assistant can:

  • Code
  • Run analysis
  • Read articles and webpages
  • Write reports
  • Understanding and generating images
  • Implement version control

At the core of SCRP-Assistant is a user-selectable command line interface (CLI), which serves as the frontend of the Assistant, and a connection to SCRP-Chat, which serves the large language model (LLM) that powers the Assistant.

How to Use SCRP-Assistant?

Simply right click on any folder or empty space in the Jupyter Lab file explorer. If you are working in a terminal, launch the assistant with the scrp-assistant command.

For details, please refer to the documentation

New ModelĀ

The Assistant is powered by GLM-4.7, one of the best open models available at this moment. The model is also available on SCRP-Chat for web and API access.

Workshop

There will be a hybrid 1-hour workshop at the Department of Economics conference room on Feb 25th 2026 (Wed) from 11am introducing the service, with demonstrations on how to use the assistant for a variety of tasks, as well as the security considerations that users need to bear in mind. Please sign up for the workshop here.
